Mammography
Mammography is the most effective test for early detection of breast cancer, even without symptoms. It visualizes the interior of the breast and detects small, non-palpable abnormalities. There are two types: screening mammography, offered in Quebec to women aged 50 to 74 every two years to observe changes without symptoms, and diagnostic mammography for women with an abnormality.

Our technologists are certified by OTIMROEPMQ and CAR. They go through vigorous evaluations and training every couple of years by different organization of the government and management.
The Mammogram Procedure at Clarke
For a more comfortable mammogram, schedule your appointment approximately 10 days after the start of your period and avoid caffeine and chocolate two weeks before if your breasts are sensitive. On the day of the exam, do not apply any products to your breasts or underarms, remove any jewelry, plan to undress from the waist up (a two-piece suit is recommended), and inform the technologist of any breast implants. Mammograms are generally not recommended for those under 30 or for pregnant or breastfeeding women, for whom an ultrasound is often preferable; discuss your situation with your doctor.

Please present a valid prescription and your original RAMQ card for each exam. Without a RAMQ card, fees will apply.
