MAMMOGRAPHY

Clarke Medical Imaging Center provides Mammography Examinations covered by RAMQ

Clarke is recognized by the Programme Québécois de dépistage du cancer du sein (PQDCS) and the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR).

You need a referral from your doctor or the invitation from the PQDCS and your Quebec Health insurance card;

If you have had previous mammograms elsewhere we recommend that you bring a copy of the images and the report with you on the day of your procedure.

Prior to the mammogram, you will be asked about pertinent information that is important for the interpretation of your mammograms such as the reason for the visit and any problems and findings in your breasts, hormone use, family or personal history of breast cancer, any prior surgeries, breast implants, etc.

Please advise our staff if any possibility of pregnancy;

You will be asked to remove some of your clothes and to wear a gown during the exam.

You may also be asked to remove jewellery and any metal objects that might interfere with the X-Ray images

On the day of the examination, don’t wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under your arms. They can appear as calcium spots on mammograms which could result in an erroneous diagnosis and/or additional unnecessary investigations.
